Good design is an investment. When you break ground, you want to be assured that everything has been considered and you’re not missing opportunities that will be unaffordable to change on site. You want to feel confident that you have explored every option on paper. This is the value in investing in the design process.
Every brief, client and site are unique and every design needs to be crafted from these driving forces. My design priorities are space, light and connecting to nature. Design needs to be strategic, making the most of the site, existing features and available budget. The design needs to maximise internal connections, eliminating wasted space and using volume to make uplifting experiences. We consider the seasons, our dark winters and our light filled summer evenings. The design needs to work hard, delivering the design ambitions inside and out.
My role on the project will be a design partner translating your brief into buildable beautiful spaces providing surprise and delight. My promise is to listen, observe, research and develop the best solution for your needs. I understand the emotional investment and risk on embarking on new build projects. I want to find out what inspires my clients and build on their wish lists. My skill is translating these influences into working drawings.
I have worked for the past decade with multi-disciplinary teams and believe great results happen when you bring the right people together. Gone are the days where the architect domineered the design team and was ‘right’ about everything. Technologies are changing, clients are more informed, building standards are at their highest and the development of architecture and our homes requires a collaborative approach. I’m unphased with the scale of work from airports, university campuses to house extensions. House projects can be as complex as the large infrastructure project, as they still require the same number of services, trades, but just on a smaller scale.
