Taking a breath…

Although I have a million things to do, I had to stop this morning and take moment in our calm kitchen. I’ve been running and racing to get to site for the past 2 years, I can now exhale and appreciate all the hard graft.

I love our kitchen, it’s the hardest working space and the hub of the home. So much research was made to design a really efficient elegant space, that worked with and reflected the architectural detailing. That investment of effort has paid off.

Our kitchen was built by conneelly custom built kitchens in Galway with the help of Maureen Sean, they have been a great team to work with and responsive to the many challenges. Our quartz is supplied from @notjustgranite, they were also great to deal and very professional.

There is just so many things to consider in a kitchen space, the prep zone, cleaning, cooking, storage, seating, integrated lighting, location of appliances, finishes on doors, handles or handle less, counter top, dimensions of drawers, cupboards, circulation, connection to other spaces and windows, breakfast, lunch and dinner mode, summer & winter light, the list goes on…

There were numerous drawing versions and visions before I even met with a kitchen company.  I had the advantage that I could test out layouts in Autocad, constantly trying to optimise the layout. It’s good to shop around and find a kitchen company that will be able to provide a good service at a reasonable price. A large part of the journey is working through the options with the pros and cons of the various decisions.

I will give more detailed info on the kitchen through stories and I can answer any questions, I’ll pop up a Q&A box.

Anyways for the moment, I will get back to enjoying my landing spot on our kitchen island, a chance to take a breath in the hub and ignore the chaos around my sanctuary.
