Painting

Once the plaster is dried completely, the house can be spray painted. The advantage of painting before the second fix electrical is sockets and plugs don’t have to be protected. Spray painting is the quickest way to get maximum coverage. There is a fair bit of preparation with protecting and taping around the windows, our painter also hand-painted the reveals for a cleaner finish. The paint colour was easy, white everywhere! only one decision to make for the moment, in time we might add more colour. At the moment, I’m loving the white, it feels so spacious and luminous, with a lovely continuity between the walls and ceilings. We used Macpherson crown paint as recommended by our painter.

It definitely feels like another major milestone. The electricians are back on Monday to finish the second fix, so we can submit our electrical certificate to get connected. We will then be able to power up the heating for the final drying of the floor before we polish the concrete. I will follow-up with updates on heating system, plantroom, kitchen design and bathrooms. It feels like the pace is ramping up again, it’s not the final push, but it also feels like we’re getting fitter on our self-build journey. The pain of the marathon is easing and the decision making is falling into place.

Cracking light this week for a walk through of our newly painted home, what a difference it makes. I’m loving the white!
